Gifts
Giving and receiving gifts is one of the joys of the holiday
season and other special occasions throughout the year. During some
special occasions, you may get gifts from people that you know all across
the country.
Sometimes these gifts are great to have and very worthwhile. Other
times, these gifts are a little less than worthwhile and may not really
be something that you like. When this situation occurs, the question
arises: “To re-gift, or not to re-gift?”
To many people, the practice of re-gifting may not be anything too
new. For others, it is possible that they have never heard of doing
such a thing. So, then, the question about exactly what re-gifting is
needs to be addressed.
The most common definition of re-gifting goes something like this:
take the gift someone else gave you, re-wrap it, slap a new name tag
on it and voila, you have a gift for your friend. Some people think
re-gifting is a rude practice that shows disrespect to the person who
gave you a gift as well as to the person who receives the new gift
On the other hand, there are many who believe there is nothing wrong
with re-gifting, especially if nobody is the wiser. The choice about
whether to re-gift or not depends on how you feel about giving a gift
to somebody else, even though the gift was originally meant for you.
